Awkward moments are so awesome that someone made an actual National Day in honor of them. Since I have the opportunity, I thought I would list my top 5 favorite awkward moments. 1. Misjudging that last step going down the stairs, and you have to do a crazy dance to catch your balance. At my age, there's sometimes a bonus muscle strain somewhere in my back. 2. Talking to myself in public (often in the truck) before realizing someone is probably looking at me, so I quickly pretend to be aggressively chewing gum... or talking on the phone. 3. Thinking about something completely different while pretending to pay attention to what someone is telling me. When they expect to me to respond... awkward. (There's no way I'm the only husband who is guilty of this!) 4. Following a conversation (or argument), thinking about the perfect funny thing to say, even though it's no longer relevant, but saying it anyway because it's hilarious in my own mind.... and awkward. Well /I/ thought it was funny, anyway! 5. And may favorite of all time... When I laugh out loud at something completely inappropriate that nobody else in the room thinks is funny and I'm left with that weak chuckle like... "HAHAHA... heh heh ah ahem. Excuse me." What are some of your favorite awkward moments? A free pulled pork sandwich to the funniest one. Oh and... keep it family-friendly, please. ;) #awkwardmomentsday

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone. Just remember, if you can't be Witt the one you love, then love one at Whitt's! A pulled pork sandwich, I mean. #BBQIsForLovers
You've heard of Netflix and Chill... but I think Barbecue and Binge should be a thing. A plate of pulled pork or one of our stuffed potatoes, and a bunch of "Vikings" episodes on TV. What's your favorite show to binge watch?

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” ~Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr.
Since it's National Thesaurus Day, I looked up "Good" & found these synonyms, "acceptable, excellent, exceptional, favorable, great, marvelous, positive, satisfactory, satisfying, superb, valuable, wonderful." I'd say those would all describe our barbecue, but we like to describe it as "Just plain good."
Whitt's has been smoking barbecue in Middle TN for almost 41 years. How long have you been visiting us for our hickory smoked goodness?
Today is National Trivia Day, so here's a little story for the trivia lovers: Did you know that pork is the reason the United States government got the nickname "Uncle Sam"? Yep! During the War of 1812, a meat packer named Samuel Wilson, known by many as "Uncle Sam" shipped a couple thousand barrels of pork to American soldiers stationed at a camp near New York. Each barrel was stamped with the letters, "U.S." Many of those soldiers knew Uncle Sam Wilson and was familiar with his packing business, so they made the association between that stamp and his name. Over time, as the story goes, anything marked with the same initials (like all Army property) also became associated as belonging to "Uncle Sam". To us, pork ain't ever trivial. But we thought this was a pretty neat bit of history.
January is National Slow Cooking month. But we celebrate that every month. We cook our pork slow over hickory smoke for hours so you can have that tender, juicy goodness without having to wait for it!
